The method of floor sanding has now evolved, not creating as much dust as before. The technique we use decreases dust emission up to 97%. So, no need to go on a major cleaning spree afterwards. We use top quality sanding machines that are connected to vacuum HEPA filter cleaners (High Efficiency Particulate Arrestor) which help minimize the dust. We sand softwood and stain wood. But the staining wood option is more expensive as it requires more work and takes more time.
A hardwood flooring can last a lifetime if you get it sandblasted by a professional. Hardwood flooring can be re-sanded about 10 to 12 times.The flooring can be sandblasted a dozen times. It is obvious though, that if a wooden flooring is neglected and is worn out prematurely due to an animal (for example, a dog), the life of the flooring is lessened.
We do not sand the engineered floors because these floors are too thin. We find these floors often in condos or on concrete surfaces.
If you have a flooring that has been varnished industrially, also known as a “pre-finished flooring”, there is an additional cost on the sanding as these types of flooring are made of aluminum varnish. Another way to know if your flooring are pre-finished, is the “mini v-grove” between each plank. Our sandpaper are not resistant to this type of varnish, thus they require more sanding and thus, more time.

STAIRCASE
We also sand and varnish hardwood staircases. The risers and stringers are often made of veneered wood, thus we can’t carry out an extensive sanding. In such a case, the best option is to apply a fresh coat of varnish or to paint them in the same color tone as your woodwork. We varnish new wooden handrails and posts.
WOODEN FLOOR FINISH
We are an Eco-friendly company and we make sure to use ecological products that are made locally. These products have a lesser amount of V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds) after evaporation.
This is why we have stopped using the oil-based polyurethane which is known to be a major pollutant for the ozone layer. Furthermore, this product yellows over time, has a foul smell and is know to be cancer causing.
The advantages: Odorless, does not yellow and dries up in a few hours, so all works can be done on the same day. Finitec products enhance the natural tint of the wood without giving it a yellowish finish, unlike its water-based varnish competitors (ex.Saman). Inconveniences are reduced to the strict minimum. Other advantages: you don’t need to sleep out, you can walk on the flooring between two coat applications and the smell will not affect foodstuffs. Of all the range of finish products for floorings, this one is the best. You have the choice to finish on your floor: Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin, Matte or even Ultra Matte that gives the appearance of a oil floor but with the advantages of a varnished floor.
